How to Prep Your AC for Alberta Summers

Alberta summers are short but intense. A quick spring tune-up keeps your central AC running efficiently when the first heat wave hits.

Why Spring Maintenance Matters

Your AC sat unused for eight months. Dust, debris, and pollen have settled on the outdoor condenser, the indoor coil might be dirty, and refrigerant levels can shift over a winter of cycling. A 90-minute tune-up catches all of it before the first hot day.

Clear the Outdoor Condenser

Pull weeds, trim back vegetation, and rinse the condenser fins gently with a garden hose. Keep at least 60 cm of clearance on all sides for proper airflow.

Change Your Filter

A clean filter is the cheapest performance upgrade you can give your system. Check it monthly during cooling season and replace as needed.

Book Your Tune-Up Early

Once the first heat wave hits, our schedule fills with no-cool emergency calls. Booking pre-season maintenance in April or May guarantees a spot before peak demand.

Listen for Unusual Sounds

The first time you run the AC each spring, listen for grinding, hissing, or sustained clicking. Catching small issues now means a $200 repair instead of a $2,000 emergency in July.
